« someday never comes »

“Someday I will be rich, living on the beach and be happy”.   What’s wrong with that?

What’s wrong is it will never happen.  The notion the future will be different than today is an illusion.  It does nothing more than allow your current situation to be okay.

I am not saying that having dreams are bad and we will never achieve them.  It’s the “mind set” in which we set out to get them that is fouled.

Dreams are accomplished in clear definable goals. Each a progression of the previous step.  It may seem silly or absurd but consider this for a minute.  The idea of “I will be rich and happen someday” has no plan or definitive measurement.   And forget being happy because this is a state of mind.  I will explain both of these in more detail.

No matter what your dreams in life are they only going to come with progressive attainable steps.  Not real different than climbing stairs.   The challenge here is that these goals have to be a little outside of our comfort zone and they have to be shared.

If you wanted to start a new career the goal of going to the store and get a paper to look at the help wanted ads is not really putting yourself out there.  However, stating to a friend or loved one “I am going have 5 interviews by the end of the month” is a little more risky.

This does two things.  First you have announced the world that you will accomplish this goal and this creates accountability on your part.  Secondly, it has a defined measured result that you have to achieve by a given time.  It makes you take action.

Setting goals to attain your dreams is the way to make them come true.

No let’s look at the “be happy” part.  No amount of money, success, fame, love is going to make you happy.  Happy come within.  You can choose to be happy or choose not to be happy and it’s all up to you at any given time.  All emotions are is a reaction to a given situation occurring in your life.  If you cannot control your emotion that you have no chance of controlling your life.   And lets face it life doesn’t have to be epic, it’s just a game.

So define your dreams set the goals in place to achieve them and play the game!
