« fear is no strategy for development »

Correction. Adjustment. Recession. Depression.

Whatever your vocabulary, what we are in is an experience of a lifetime. Often challenging, threatening, sobering and a bit crazy.

I was reminded by an article I read over the weekend by Amy Cooper that we have to focus our energies as entrepreneurs to start acting and thinking like entrepreneurs more than ever.

I have said it myself, repeated it weekly with clients and coaches. Now is the time for success stories, dreams and millionaires to be created. The largest transfer of wealth is in front of us.

But yet we let fear and confusion play a role of panic and reservation.

Remember that recessions are typically ripe with opportunity. And history speaks for itself.

The Great Depression

Campbell's Soup introduces Chicken Noodle and Cream of Mushroom Soup (1934)

GE introduces the first florescent light bulb (1938)

Eisenhower Recession

Ray Kroc opens the first McDonald's (1955)

Vietnam Stagnation

The UPC scan code is introduced  (1974)

1980's Recession

Diet Coke makes it first appearance (1982)

Post 9/11

The Original iPod is introduced (2001)

Simply put: Kick the fear. Being an entrepreneur is all about being fearless. No matter the economy or the weather. Put a plan in place, stay positive, focus and win.
